PANJIM, GOA | April 10, 2026:
At the prestigious conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) West Zone–VII held in Goa, Maharashtra MLC Shri Amit Gorkhe drew significant attention from national leadership with his insightful and forward-looking address. During the three-day conference held from April 8 to 10 in Panjim, he represented Maharashtra in two key plenary sessions focusing on “Viksit Bharat 2047: Role of Young Legislators” and the “Developmental Priorities of Zone VII.” Notably, only a handful of representatives from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka were selected for this prestigious conference. Among them, MLC Amit Gorkhe was chosen to represent the Maharashtra state in this high-level meeting.
Viksit Bharat 2047: Role of Young Legislators
Speaking in the first session, MLC Amit Gorkhe highlighted the crucial responsibility of young lawmakers in shaping India’s future. He stated,
"Young legislators are not just leaders of tomorrow; they are the ‘Change Agents’ of today. Achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 will depend on our ability to take bold, inclusive, and ethical decisions that ensure equitable growth for all."
Sustainable Tourism and Regional Connectivity.
During the second plenary session, MLC Gorkhe emphasized the importance of sustainable tourism and enhanced coastal connectivity between Goa and Maharashtra. He remarked,
"Goa should not be recognized merely for its beaches, but should emerge as a global model for ‘Sustainable Tourism.’ We must ensure that development does not come at the cost of our natural heritage."
He further proposed the creation of a ‘Unified Tourist Circuit’ stretching from the coastline of Palghar to the beaches of Goa, aiming to boost economic development across the western coastal belt.
Advocating Green Infrastructure and Digital Governance.
The conference was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Shri Om Birla (Speaker, Lok Sabha), Dr. Pramod Sawant (Chief Minister, Goa), Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh (Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha), Adv. Rahul Narwekar (Speaker, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly), Prof. Ram Shinde (Chairman, Maharashtra Legislative Council), and Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary (Speaker, Gujarat Legislative Assembly).
In the presence of these national leaders, MLC Gorkhe strongly advocated for green infrastructure development and emphasized the effective use of digital platforms to ensure transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.
Connecting Local to Global Opportunities
MLC Amit Gorkhe underlined that major infrastructure projects such as the Mumbai-Goa Highway and Coastal Road are not merely connectivity initiatives but gateways for local entrepreneurs to access global markets. He reiterated his commitment to leveraging technology to ensure that the benefits of governance reach the last mile of society.

Concluding his address, MLC Gorkhe expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Goa for their warm hospitality and excellent organization under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. He expressed confidence that this conference would further strengthen cultural and economic ties between Goa and Maharashtra, positioning Zone VII as a key growth engine for India.
