New Delhi – As India continues to strengthen its global presence through dynamic foreign policy engagements, Adv Amol Patil, a noted international trade expert, has called for a comprehensive discussion in Parliament on the theme of ‘India’s International Relations’ during the ongoing monsoon session.
“India’s role in major global developments is becoming increasingly pivotal,” said Adv Patil. “From high-level visits by the Prime Minister to our strategic presence in multilateral platforms such as BRICS and G20, there is a growing need for transparency and consensus-building through parliamentary debate.”
He emphasized that India’s foreign policy today extends beyond economics and into the geopolitical arena, especially concerning engagements with the United States, Russia, Europe, and the Global South. “Public and parliamentary discourse on these matters will strengthen national consensus and shape a more cohesive foreign policy approach,” he added.
Referring to ongoing international events, Advocate Patil stressed the need for India to articulate clear positions on global issues like the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Israel-Gaza war, and the evolving U.S.–China dynamics.
Further he said, “India must engage in open discussion not only to evaluate its global partnerships but also to reinforce its commitment to democratic processes and strategic autonomy.”
He urged the Parliament to set aside dedicated time during the monsoon session to debate and deliberate on India’s international relations, with input from all political parties, experts, and stakeholders.
